Aurora, Colorado – Nov. 3, 2009 – Merrick has been awarded new contracts for engineering, architecture, surveying, and geospatial technologies services.
For the firm’s life sciences business unit Merrick’s Life Sciences Group, these contracts include providing building commissioning services for a new data center at George Washington University, Washington, DC, and the design of an avian flu control/human pandemic project for the foreign country of Georgia, located in the Former Soviet Union.
The firm’s military and government facilities business unit Merrick’s Military & Government Facilities Group, has been awarded contracts from various military divisions totaling approximately $4,885,000. The planned projects are located at Holloman Air Force Base, Cannon Air Force Base, Fort Drum, Fort Detrick, Fort Carson, and Dobbins Air Reserve Base.
Merrick’s nuclear technology business unit Merrick's Nuclear Technology Systems Group has been awarded multiple contract extensions for its work at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Y-12 National Security Complex, located in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and at Dugway Proving Grounds, located in Toole, Utah. The firm has also been awarded contract modifications of more than $1 million for a commercial nuclear project the firm has been involved in for the past year.
In the upcoming year, Merrick’s GeoSpatial Solutions Group will be providing light detection and ranging (LiDAR) and digital imagery acquisition and processing services for both Chatfield and Bear Creek Reservoirs, both located in the metro Denver area, Colorado. The group will also be providing boundary surveys for five ports of entry between the U.S. and Canada in Montana in support of expanding those ports of entry, and LiDAR and digital imagery for the Colombian Navy, Bogota, Colombia for three islands located in the Caribbean Sea.

Merrick’s Civil Engineering Solutions Group was recently awarded an on-call contract for hydrology/hydraulic engineering and construction management services for El Paso County, Colorado, and a contract to repair airfield drainage issues at Dobbins Air Reserve Base, Georgia. The group will also be providing on-call services for the City and County of Denver for street and drainage related work.
