CALGARY, AB - September 28, 2010 - Mentor Engineering is announcing the certification of
Mentor Ranger®, a rugged in-vehicle mobile computer, on the Rogers data network. Ranger is utilizing integrated 3G technology, taking advantage of the newest generation of HSPA wireless communications provided by Rogers, the largest wireless communications carrier in Canada.
"Mentor's new and existing clients will benefit from greater network coverage and access to 3G data speeds with this most recent Ranger certification," says Mike Koebel, VP of Sales and Business Development at Mentor.
Ranger facilitates real-time communication between drivers and dispatchers, supports work order management functions such as on-the-fly schedule changes, and provides vehicle telemetry and Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) information. Ranger's integrated navigation software allows drivers to access turn-by-turn directional prompts, and Ranger is programmable over the air, saving organizations time and money.
With Ranger in the vehicle, and Rogers delivering critical wireless network services, Mentor can offer a wide range of solutions from
field service management and emergency roadside assistance, to transit operations. Using this technology, fleet-based organizations can improve customer service, increase efficiency, and reduce operational costs while completing more jobs per day.

Adopting Cloud computing can save money, but good governance is essential to manage the risk argues Mike Small
