Media Sponsors announced for 1Spatial Conference

1Spatial is pleased to announce that Vector 1, GEOconnexion, GeoInformatics and GIS Professional will be participating as media sponsors for their 2008 Conference: ‘1 Source of Truth', being held from 29th April to 1st May at the Radisson SAS Hotel, Stansted Airport, UK.

With Oracle, Autodesk, Infotech, Blue Marble Geographics, eSpatial and Informatica confirmed as sponsors, the Conference is set to deliver a comprehensive learning package for everyone working with spatial data, from expert Practitioners, through to Programmers and Chief Executive Officers. Focussed discussions, presentations and workshops will assist you in achieving more effective and efficient use of spatial data throughout your organisation, or for any activity involved in integrating spatial data and building Spatial Data Infrastructures (SDI). The support of the media sponsors is very important for delivering the conference messages, both before and after the event.

Vector1 Media is an integrated media company serving the international marketplace. They are dedicated to providing information that supports economical technologies and processes that promote sustainable environments. Building upon a foundation of design principles and infrastructure disciplines, and tempered with the understanding of processes, Vector1 Media pursues visualisation, modelling, spatial analysis, simulation and sensor technologies for holistic management planning and decision-making. www.vector1media.com

Recognising the integrated nature of the geospatial information industry, GeoInformatics presents thought provoking and useful information available both in print and online: http://www.geoinformatics.com/

GIS Professional is aimed at professionals working in spatial data application, management, interrogation, collection and processing. Its readers include: users, managers, developers, consultants, data collectors, sensor and system developers, academics and researchers. www.pvpubs.com/magazines.asp?mag=3

Jeff Thurston, Editor of Vector1 Media, commented:
"We see 1Spatial at the crossroads of the geospatial industry. Data quality is a major issue going forward and this conference brings together the brightest minds and talents to tackle data quality issues and discuss solutions which will impact geoinformation well into the future."

Maria Pellegrini, Editor of GEOconnexion UK, commented:
"GEOconnexion is proud once again to partner 1Spatial in their 2008 conference. Data is central - without it there would be no GIS! So, being the pan industry communication channel we strongly support collaborative work around the complex issues surrounding geographic data including data quality, volume, technological convergence and INSPIRE and SDI. We would like to wish 1Spatial every success at this event."

Ruud Groothuis, Publisher of GeoInformatics, commented:
“The 1Spatial Conference is definitely worth attending. It provides full insight into the various applications of managing data and spatial data control. It is a perfect meeting point to meet with many of the top professionals and key-people within the industry, and to exchange ideas, experiences and impressions of one of the most dynamic geo-technologies.”

Stephen Booth, Publisher of GIS Professional, commented:
“We have been attending Spatial's conferences for nearly a decade and have always found them technically wide-ranging with stimulating, informative and at times provocative presentations”

Graham Stickler, Product and Marketing Director, 1Spatial, added:
“1Spatial is delighted that such well known and respected publications have once again chosen to support our conference. As leading resources within the geographic sector, their backing ensures that the important messages from this year’s conference will reach a truly global audience.”

This Month's Burning Issue...
Each month we select a hot topic and a leading figure in the industry to write about it.
This month's burning issue:

What message are we sending to senior level decision makers about the importance and value of Spatial Data Infrastructure - SDI - if we keep misrepresenting what SDI is or is all about?

In previous editorials in this magazine I have touched on various SDI issues, especially now that the pan-European SDI has achieved a legally mandated status within the European Union's 27 Member States. Yet I fear that the Geographic Information community - or communities, for there are many - continue to… More…
