Media Briefing at Intl Conference Earth fromSpace

November 30, 2007 - Mass Media Briefing during 3rd International Conference "Earth from Space - The Most Effective Solutions".

On December 4, the opening day of the 3rd International Conference “Earth from Space – the Most Effective Solutions”, RDC ScanEx and NGO “Transparent World” will hold a briefing for mass media. The following topics will be discussed in a popular format:

Environment and Space:

Capabilities of operational satellite monitoring of sea surface oil contamination;

Ships detection from space and prospects of anti-poaching operations in the Far East and in the Caspian region;

o Use of remote sensing methods for detection of illegal felling and evaluation of forest fires impact on forestry.

"Transparency" in the era of post-industrial society:

Rapid growth of access to satellite data;

Possibilities of controlling major projects implementation in production industry.

Overcoming the limitations on access to high resolution geographical data:

Position of Russia’s Chief Executives regarding removal of the limitations;;

Lack of relevant bylaws;

Loss of competitive edge by the Russian business.
