DENVER - August 6, 2009 - MapQuest today announced the availability of new Premium Data Sets for its MapQuest Platform Enterprise Edition. The new offering provides access to boundary and point data such as neighborhoods, parcels, zip codes, public schools, business locations and U.S. Census demographics. This information will enable businesses to add this content to MapQuest maps to provide valuable insights that help companies and consumers make better decisions.
"This release marks an important step in our continued effort to provide our enterprise clients with a flexible platform for creating internal and customer-facing applications," said Christian Dwyer, general manager and senior vice president at MapQuest. "In today's challenging economy, companies need to leverage data as effectively as possible to make better decisions. MapQuest Premium Data Sets allow our customers and partners to develop new internal business intelligence tools as well as compelling consumer Web applications for markets such as retail, travel, real estate and online directory applications."
MapQuest Premium Data Sets include U.S. boundary data such as parcels, ZIP codes, neighborhoods, school districts, cities, counties, states, MSA's and more. The demographic data feature more than 400 categories from the U.S. Census. Also available are more than 13 million U.S. and two million Canadian business listings, more than 100,000 U.S. public school locations and U.S. traffic incident and flow data. These data are available for map display, searching and analysis, and the MapQuest Platform offers an extensible API, data hosting and data updates.
MapQuest has also released new Asian mapping and points-of-interest data for the MapQuest Platform in China, Japan and India. For added flexibility and customization, the map display data for China and Japan support both English and native characters.
MapQuest Premium Data Sets and the new map coverage in Asia are both available as an additional licensed option for existing MapQuest Platform Enterprise Edition customers as well as to new customers.
