The new benchmark in aerial imagery, Pictometry®, has been implemented by a number
of leading Councils in Australia. Recent adopters of this technology include: Kogarah,
Randwick, Glen Eira, Marrickville, Rockdale and Hurstville. The Cities of Sydney, Greater
Geelong and Melbourne embraced this technology available from AAMHatch some time
ago.
The multiple image perspectives and analysis toolkit available from Pictometry has
significantly increased the power and depth of desktop studies in Local Government. The
real 3D building models from Pictometry make their consultations truly immersive.
Specific examples include:
(a) Strategic planners viewing locations from all angles complemented with
measurement, analysis and overlaying of GIS data.
(b) Staff using the image subset and analysis tools (eg area measurement) for reports
relating to development applications and urban management.
(c) Engineers analysing elevation and slope changes in the context of proposed works
programs.
