Hannover/Zweibrücken – By releasing ascos Agriculture Precise Posi-tioning Service (APPS), AXIO-NET launches a new correction data service that is specifically tailored to the needs of the agricultural in-dustry. The service provides users of the John Deere StarFire system with precision guidance that is accurate to the centimetre for their tractors and machineries via mobile radio. John Deere is the first manufacturer in Germany to offer a solution for precision farming ir-respective of location or radio connectivity. This service is an add-on for the already established Base Station RTK systems.

Beside the growing need for accuracy in precision farming, which ranges down to the centimetre in cultivating so-called specialised crops, the re-producibility of positioning data plays an increasingly important role. The consistent correction data required for this can be received by StarFire users on their machines by using ascos APPS at practically any location throughout Germany.

AXIO-NET operates a network of reference stations across Germany for generating ascos correction data. Remote access to this network and the transfer of data occurs via GSM connection and is decoded with a rugge-dized modem that has been configured for the ascos APPS service. Since the reliability and availability of correction data is essential when using the system for agricultural purposes, the modem was specially designed to provide protection against vibrations, dust and moisture. This version will be available only to John Deere tractor driving cabs.

The quality of ascos services has been certified by TÜV SÜD and the op-erator AXIO-NET is also ISO certified. The service was integrated by Zweibrücken-based John Deere AMS Europe, a leading specialist in agri-cultural management solutions.
