International LIDAR Mapping Forum deadline 11 Sept

Call for Papers for the International LIDAR Mapping Forum

Extended Deadline September 11, 2008

The deadline for the ILMF 09 Call for Papers has been extended to September 11. We had feedback that suggested the earlier deadline wasn’t working for some people due to the proximity to the summer holidays.

The Conference Technical Committee is seeking papers and work-in-progress reports on all aspects of airborne and bathymetry LiDAR with a particular emphasis on papers that address the key commercial and technical issues facing the industry. To submit a paper, visit the web site below.

The International Lidar Mapping Forum is the premier event for the LiDAR industry attracting professionals from all over the world looking to invest in and benefit from LiDAR technology and services. The next event is scheduled for January 26 – 28, 2009 in New Orleans, USA.

The last ILMF, in February 2008, saw record growth in attendance which reflects the growing importance of LiDAR to the world’s mapping industries as the key way to acquire massive amounts of high resolution digital data in an extremely cost effective manner. More than 580 delegates registered from 32 countries.

If you are interested in exhibiting, please email:

This Month's Burning Issue...
Each month we select a hot topic and a leading figure in the industry to write about it.
This month's burning issue:

How valuable are our efforts on SDIs if we don’t actively address the human issues? Think about all the government regulations, technical implementation plans, internal processes and procedures, data sharing networks and so on. These are arguably meaningless if there is no buy-in or understanding from the people who must deliver against them.

During the 1Spatial Conference 2008 where there was a large number of presentations on a wide range of important industry topics ranging from data quality, data integration and data maintenance to open source and INSPIRE. But there were very few presentations that focused on the human aspects of our business.… More…
