Infotech Enterprises has been selected by OGCbuying.solutions, the Government's leading procurement services organisation
Infotech Enterprises, the global software services company specialising in geospatial and IT solutions, today announced it has been selected by OGCbuying.solutions, the Government's leading procurement services organisation for the UK, along with sixteen other leading service providers, to provide a broad remit of Geospatial Information Services and Solutions for public sector customers under the new Catalist GISS framework agreement.
Infotech Enterprises is one of only three companies to achieve the award across all lots of the framework agreement; including Geospatial Information Solutions, Mapping Services, and Data Services.
The inclusion of geospatial services to the Catalist framework agreement is a reflection of the increasing demand for cost-effective, scalable, and expert geospatial services and resources required to support IT programmes driven by the Transformational Government and Efficiency Agendas. Catalist provides an EU compliant procurement catalogue that supports the Transforming Procurement initiative calling for greater centralisation of buying and reuse of experiences, and lessons learned, between projects.
A number of factors were taken into consideration during the evaluation and selection process, including Infotech's experience in delivering transformational projects, our highly skilled resource base, and track record in providing high quality, impartial and professional services to support UK Public Sector organisations needing to identify, de-risk, implement and support complex solutions.
Commenting on this, Robin Brooke, Director of Business Development, said: "We are delighted to win this vote of confidence in our capability and capacity to provide high quality geospatial services to one of our key markets, UK Public Sector. Catalist brings clear value to the customer community providing a rapid and EU compliant procurement route, competitive pricing wide choice, and significant savings in the procurement process. Infotech's history of repeatable delivery and continuity in major programmes makes the company an immediate choice for many of our customers."
OGCbuying.solutions is the trading arm of the Office of Government Commerce (OGC), which is itself an office of HM Treasury. The Office of Government Commerce is responsible for improving value for money by driving up standards and capability in procurement, from commodity buying to the delivery of major capital projects, maximising the effective use of 60% of Government spending and a £30 billion property estate.
A new Government strategy launched in January 2007, Transforming Government Procurement, highlighted the central importance of procurement in delivering high-quality public services and best value for money. OGC is tasked with delivering this transformation, and with driving up standards and procurement capability across central Government.
