Infotech Enterprises multi-year contact with iTEC

Infotech Enterprises multi-year contact with iTEC

Hyderabad, June 9 2009 - Infotech Enterprises Limited (IEL), a global technology solutions provider with headquarters in Hyderabad, India, announced that it has signed a multi-year contract with inCONTROL Tech (iTEC) of Malaysia to implement an Enterprise GIS Information System for Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) which is the largest Electric Utility in Malaysia. This implementation is a part of TNB’s long term GIS roll out plan for all their circles nationwide. The partnering contract was signed between Mr. John Renard, President of Infotech’s UTG division and Mr. Harvinder Singh, Managing Director of iTEC during a signing ceremony graced by prominent executives from both organisations.

This is the first time that Infotech will be executing a multimillion dollar project for a Malaysian Utility and the project spans over a period of 5 years. Under this project, Infotech and iTEC would be offering an SOA (service oriented architecture) based solution for enterprise GIS information management to TNB. This implementation would help integrate and streamline business processes across various functions within TNB.

Mr. B.V.R. Mohan Reddy, Chairman and Managing Director, Infotech Enterprises Limited, expressing his delight on signing this contract said, “We are expanding our footprint in the Asia Pacific region. This contract is a critical milestone in our progress in the region. This will contribute to our deep domain expertise in handling the requirements of Electrical Utilities globally”.

Commenting on this contract, Mr John Renard, president of Infotech’s UTG division said, “We are delighted to sign this contract to implement an enterprise GIS for the largest Electricity Utility in Malaysia. With a few firsts to it, the project inspires us to deliver a future-ready, impeccable solution that aligns with the client’s business needs. Our unique global delivery model, expertise in offering solutions to leading Utilities worldwide, and long-term relationships with Utility vendors has been instrumental in winning this order."

Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) is the largest Electric Utility in Malaysia with more than RM 67.0 billion in assets. Recognised for its outstanding performance, regionally and globally, TNB’s core businesses rest in generation, transmission and distribution of Electricity. With a total installed generation capacity of about 11,200 MW, TNB is trusted for delivering reliable and efficient products and services. In Peninsular Malaysia, TNB contributes to around 55 per cent of the total industry capacity.

This partnering agreement comes in the wake of Infotech’s growing presence in the South East Asian Utilities market and now plans to set up an office in Malaysia. In the past Infotech has delivered award-winning enterprise GIS solutions for Utilities and this project will serve as yet another opportunity to emphasise its prominence in the area of implementing Enterprise GIS Information Systems. The solution once implemented will help TNB improve their business processes and enhance operational efficiency resulting in significant business benefits.
