ITT Announces Image Analysis Solutions

Boulder, CO – July 12, 2011 – ITT Corporation (NYSE: ITT), the developers of ENVI® image processing and analysis software, today announced a new initiative to support the integration of its software technology with the ArcGIS® platform from Esri®. ITT’s new Industry Solutions initiative will take advantage of ENVI tools in ArcGIS to build models and workflows that add image analysis functionality to industry specific applications for GIS users. The models and workflows will deliver image analysis solutions for natural resources, government, and defense and intelligence applications, allowing GIS users to easily extract meaningful information from imagery for more accurate and timely decision making.

“ITT and Esri have worked together for the past three years to integrate our software technologies and empower GIS users with the tools to take full advantage of the rich information imagery provides,” said Richard Cooke, president of ITT Visual Information Solutions. “Our new Industry Solutions initiative will now build upon this integration to further extend the accessibility of image analysis tools, models and workflows to address industry specific challenges.”

With this Industry Solutions initiative, ITT Visual Information Solutions is shifting its resources to create industry solutions using image analysis. For example, tools that exploit imagery to map and monitor land cover, map and assess fire damage and determine forest health are being packaged together to meet the needs of forestry professionals. In addition, the company’s account management teams have been realigned to support the specific needs of users in targeted industries.

“The partnership between Esri and ITT has already helped many ArcGIS users worldwide add information from imagery to their GIS,” said Lawrie Jordan, director of imagery for Esri. “As we extend our platform to better support imagery, we will continue to work with our partners, like ITT, to provide the resources that simplify the use of imagery in ArcGIS across a variety of industries.”

ITT plans to roll out tools, models and workflows that solve industry specific problems over the course of the next year.
