Significant International Geospatial Standards Meetings to be held in Australia
ISO/TC211 and OGC’s Technical Meeting will be holding their meetings in Australia later this year, in Sydney and Canberra in late November - early December.
This is the first time for over 10 years these two organisations are meeting in the same location and it is also the first time an OGC Technical Committee will met in Australia.
Around 200 - 250 delegates from overseas are expected to attend both meetings. Topics being cover by these two organisations will range from:
- The metadata revision of ISO 19115
- Looking at the issues of developing an international address standard
- Calibration and validation of remote sensing imagery sensors and data
- Data quality and data assurance
- Spatial referencing
- Ontology
- Location based services
- Imagery sensor models
- SmartGrid is a comprehensive framework for the US electrical power system which includes OGC standards
- CityGML
- Digital Rights Management issues with geospatial information
- Sensor Web Enablement
- Gazetteer
- Data Harmonisation efforts with Hydrology, Meteorology and Oceans
- The standardisation requirements for ubiquitous public access
Early planning for the ISO/TC211 meeting has scheduled a major national presentation day on Wednesday, 8th December, to showcase geospatial achievements to the delegates and other participates.
