INTERGEO East 2009

Karlsruhe / Istanbul, 02 December 2008. INTERGEO East is to be staged in Istanbul for the first time from 27 to 29 January 2009. Interest in the Turkey premiere of the most comprehensive trade fair and conference for land management, geoinformation, the building industry and the environment in South-East Europe and the Middle East is impressive. At present, companies from 16 countries have already confirmed their participation, including market leaders such as Leica, ESRI and Sokkia. Many exhibitors will not only make use of the total exhibition area of some 4,500 square meters in the state-of-the-art Istanbul Convention & Exhibition Centre (ICEC) www.icec.org - they are also planning to present their latest developments to the 300 - 400 participants expected to attend the congress. The high-quality congress programme comprises an appealing and up-to-date mix of regional, national and international topics.

Many of the lectures and plenary sessions will be simultaneously translated from Turkish to English and vice versa. Highlights of the congress include a DVW session on Wednesday, 28 January 2009 focusing, among other things, on INSPIRE and 3D models. What's more, on the afternoons of 28 and 29 January, plenary sessions will be held by the ISPRS (International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, Istanbul) devoted to the production and maintenance of maps and potential areas of application for laser scanning.

National topics include real estate valuations and land registers, while speakers from the Middle East, South-East Europe and Turkey will be concentrating on location-based information systems in the regional congress block. The English-speaking FIG session will pick up on reference station networks, mobile trade fair technologies and disaster management.

Anyone interested in the event can find the congress programme at www.intergeo-east.com. Here, you can book a place at the congress and get information on directions and accommodation.
