Karlsruhe, 18 September 2009. When INTERGEO opens in Karlsruhe next Tuesday with German Federal Minister of the Interior Dr. Wolfgang Schäuble as its patron, companies from a record 30 countries will be taking part. The world's largest and most important congress trade fair for geodesy, geoinformation and land management brings together companies from countries such as the U.S., the Netherlands, the U.K., India, Israel, Japan, South Africa and South Korea. INTERGEO's international dimension is growing all the time, as shown by the high level of participation by companies from outside Germany, which has now reached 30 per cent.
And that's not all: "Non-German exhibitors are booking more and more space at INTERGEO. The proportion has grown by some 5 per cent on last year," says Olaf Freier, CEO of HINTE GmbH and Project Manager of INTERGEO. The continued rise in participation is a testament to the global value and importance of INTERGEO as the number one international industry forum. A total of 475 exhibitors from the geo industry will be promoting their service and innovation expertise.
Some 1,400 international congress participants will be making waves at the Karlsruhe Trade Fair and Exhibition Centre on the three days from 22 to 24 September. A varied programme awaits them, with 100 specialist presentations in 45 subject areas. The focus will be on all the key topics for science and practice, ranging from the European INSPIRE directive, energy and environmental issues, early-warning systems and disaster management to remote sensing and satellite technology. With the 57th Cartographers' Day and Geodetic Week, the INTERGEO Forum and numerous special excursions, the stage is set for a lively review of the current state of the industry and a look-ahead to the future.
