INTELLIGENT NAVIGATION: TODD BRIDGES THE ECDIS GAP

28 September 2010 - Northern Ireland-based marine navigation data and service provider Todd Chart Agency has today launched a new brand identity and commercial website as it gets set to guide its customers through the ECDIS revolution.

Launched under the banner 'Intelligent Navigation', the agency formerly known as Todd Chart Agency will now trade as 'Todd'. This new corporate persona represents a step forward for the company as it positions itself as a major player in the supply of avigational data and expertise to customers worldwide.

Speaking about the launch of the new brand, Capt William Todd, Todd's founder and owner said: "At Todd, we combine our industry experience with the supply of leading chart management techniques. We believe in working closely and collaboatively with each customer to ensure that we can provide the most relevant products for their needs from our extensive range of electronic charts, digital publications, navigatinal data and hardware."

From its HQ near Belfast, Northern Ireland, Todd has come a long way since its humble beginnings over 20 years ago, growing to become one of the largest and most valued Admiralty Distributors in the world, with a network of valued customers and suppliers across the globe.

As the shipping industry continues to change and demands on shipowners and navigators increase, regulation, training and cost-effectiveness are becoming major issues. Todd works with each of its customers to guide them through regulation, offering world-class products and services, training and support.

Todd's product range includes ECDIS hardware from a number of world-leading manufacturers and a global portfolio of electronic charts and digital publications including the full range of Admiralty digital and paper products.

Shipping is a 24 hour business and Todd offers full round-the-clock support and service to each of its customers and has on many occasions issued emergency chart permits to ships who have had to change course at very short notice. Working closely with customers is one of Todd's core areas of expertise and the Todd team, many of whom have spent time at sea, are always available to offer advice.

Training continues to be a huge issue for the industry. Earlier this year, Todd signed a partnership agreement with ECDIS Ltd, one of the industry's largest specialist ECDIS Training outfits to provide IMO-approved ECDIS Training courses to all its' customers, either at ECDIS Ltd's purpose-built training facility in Southampton, or at a number of sites around the world.

Capt Todd said: "We offer a specialist sales service and work with our customers to find solutions to any manner of navigation problems: from back of bridge planning systems to the latest and most globally comprehensive portfolios of official electronic charts."

Todd offers a full, global, IMO-compliant range of digital products and systems, including e-Navigator, UKHO's newest product - one which looks set to change the face of navigation. Todd was one of the first UKHO distributors to trial e-Navigator with one of its customers: a large dry cargo transporter.

Over the next few months, Todd plans to launch an industry blog, aimed at providing expertise and information industry wide, as well as a forum within which customers can share experiences.
