IDV Solutions Releases Visual Fusion 4.5

Lansing, MI, November 10, 2009 - IDV Solutions today released Visual Fusion 4.5, the latest version of its enterprise mashup software. This release expands the data visualization components of the product, introducing on-the-fly heat maps for any data source and a rich Silverlight timeline component that can be partnered with the product’s map viewer to see and interact with enterprise and Web data in the dual contexts of location and time. A public demonstration of these capabilities is showcased in PiracyWatch.

With this release, Visual Fusion continues its lead in the data mashup and visualization market. Best-in-class business user experience, a lightning fast application development paradigm, and deep SharePoint infrastructure integration all conspire to empower business users with relevant content at their fingertips, optimized for decision making.

“We are very excited about how our customers and partners will benefit from the additional time and heat mapping capabilities in Visual Fusion 4.5,” explained Ian Clemens, IDV Solutions Chief Technology Officer. “Data visualization is empowering, and our software makes it possible for business users to achieve—on their own— mashups in SharePoint. Hands down there is no better software on the market for visualizing enterprise data in the context of space (location) and time.”

Visual Fusion Composer, the GUI tool for building mashups of styled data, is updated to include options for configuring timelines and heat maps. Now any source of point data—SharePoint Lists, Excel files, SQL Server data, KML or other Web feed, etc. —can be turned into a compelling heat map or included in the timeline. Composer includes a wide array of settings and controls to style heat maps to fit the content and use case.

The new release has other beneficial enhancements as well. Localization guidance is now provided to support non-English implementations. SharePoint List and Library support is upgraded to include Calendars and the email-enabling of image libraries. This latter enhancement turns mobile devices into content creation devices. Photos can be emailed into SharePoint from the field and brought into Visual Fusion mashups as a data source, making them instantly available and contextualized for the team back in the office. Additionally, support for custom icons, image export, ATOM feeds, and KMZ feeds are all improved.

A new Bing Maps for Enterprise Connector supports all of the geocoding, reverse geocoding, place find, and points of interest functionality available in the Visual Fusion MapPoint Connector, and adds Bing local search results and Bird’s Eye imagery.
