Dotted Eyes has worked with Buckinghamshire County Council and its partners to develop an information sharing portal. I:onBucks has become a central and integral part of building a safer, stronger Buckinghamshire community – www.ionbucks.info
The system has been praised by the community and Thames Valley Police who provide monthly crime data updates to the site, allowing members of the public to be fully informed about crime at a neighbourhood level.
On the 10th & 11th June, Holly Farrow, Data and Analysis Development Manager from the Buckinghamshire Community Safety Partnership will be presenting to the National Crime Mapping Conference on why hotspot mapping was the best method for displaying crime data to the public whilst complying with data protection principles.
The presentation will display the before and after outputs from this process and aim to explain the concepts behind the changes, the challenges encountered and the solutions that were reached.
With a combination of larger rural and smaller urban centres plus a wide variance between the reality of falling crime figures and the public’s perception of safety, hotspot maps were the ideal solution to deliver accurate results to the community.
