High level WEX 2010 international summit

The fourth major international Water and Energy Exchange (WEX) 2010 conference is being held in Cyprus 3-4 February. Business leaders and key stakeholders drawn from right across the global supply chain in both public and private sectors will participate in a focused, educational conference programme. Delegates at WEX 2010 will examine the challenges facing the water and energy industry worldwide within the wider context of sustainable development and learn about innovative, pragmatic and sustainable solutions.

WEX 2010 is a vibrant and broad-ranging forum with a line-up of top-flight speakers crossing international and professional boundaries who bring with them wide resources of knowledge and expertise. Delegates from many countries will come together to network and debate issues relating to sustainability, innovation, and energy efficiency, which are vital to the enormous challenges presented by the impact of climate change and rapidly expanding urban populations. A unique feature of this front-line forum is that delegates are able to pre-select a schedule of one-to-one business meetings to exchange expertise and work together.

Today, issues affecting drinking water, waste water treatment, storm water risk management and energy use resonate as loudly in industrialised economies as they do in less wealthy regions of the world. While most governments see green technology as a key driver in leading the World out of recession, its extensive use in water conservation and management will play a vital role in countering the catastrophic effects of climate change as well as helping to kick start investment in new projects across the globe. The search for integrated sustainable solutions can only be achieved by adopting an approach which crosses national and professional boundaries and brings together practitioners, scientists, regulators, consultants, manufacturers, NGOs and financiers to engage in an international exchange of information and expertise which leads to collaborative action in tackling these problems.
