Calgary, AB — August 11, 2008— (TSX: HEM) Hemisphere GPS has entered into a contractual agreement in which it will supply CPAC Systems AB custom-built LV100 GPS Compasses. The LV100 is a complete GPS compass and positioning assembly utilizing a unique patent-pending design featuring a single carrier board with
integrated GPS antennas.
“We are pleased to have this opportunity to work with CPAC Systems AB,” said Phil Gabriel, Hemisphere GPS General Manager of Precision Products. “We are proud that the LV100 GPS Compass will be a part of the cuttingedge
products produced by CPAC Systems.”
The LV100 GPS Compass is powered by the Hemisphere GPS patented Crescent® Vector™ technology, and integrates two GPS antennas, an NMEA 2000® communication processor, a single-axis gyro, a tilt sensor, and a power supply into a single system. It is an alternative to traditional gyro and fluxgate compass sensors, providing precise positioning and speed measurements while being immune to magnetic interference typically present on marine vessels. The dual integrated antennas provide both heading and position data, and the gyro and tilt sensor improve system performance and provide backup heading information, if the GPS-based heading is ever
lost.
The LV100 GPS Compass will be incorporated into CPAC’s state-of-the-art embedded control system for “steer-by-wire”. “The LV100 GPS Compass’ ability to provide accurate and reliable heading and sub-meter positioning
will be an integral add-on to our technology platform for marine and industrial applications,” said Richard Berkling,
CEO of CPAC Systems AB.
