In 2009, HP Specialty Printing Systems (SPS) launched the new HP C6180 Industrial Coder for China's product identification market. Available only in China, this new package coder follows the Chinese government's call for decisive actions to strengthen product quality, safety and authentication.
The HP C6180 leverages HP's advanced research, development and go-to-market abilities for digital solutions that improve supply-chain efficiencies and track and trace capabilities. Designed to enhance product and brand security, the system enables compliance with China's product identification, authentication and tracking system (PIATS) regulations.
This new system enables product authentication and security by producing high-resolution codes, barcodes, images and text on product packages at the manufacturer's plant. It is an easy-to-use, easy-to-maintain HP-branded thermal inkjet printing solution capable of cost effectively delivering direct-on-box codes and marks on porous substrates using Original HP aqueous inks.
Ingram Micro has been selected as the master distributor to build the sales and support channel for the HP product identification programme in China.
"The HP C6180 solution improves and streamlines our customers' efforts to establish secure track and trace distribution and efficient product authentication," said Kathy Tobin, vice president and general manager, HP Specialty Printing Systems. "We are excited to work with Ingram Micro as the master distributor for this product, as it means HP will be able to efficiently provide this important solution to our customers across China."
The HP C6180 Industrial Coder is the first HP-branded package coder from the Specialty Printing Systems division.
