Google Earth training courses

February 13, 2009 - FOR the first time, NGIS Australia is partnering with the Spatial Sciences Institute to offer training courses in Google Earth.

The workshops, launching this month, will give an overview of what Google Earth offers, provide hands-on training and showcase the innovative ways organisations are using Google Earth to create and share information.

Three one-day Google Workshops are available, covering different aspects of Google Earth. A beginner course provides an introduction to the capabilities of Google Earth and Google Maps, showing how these packages can assist in viewing, creating and sharing information.

For more advanced users, a Google Earth Pro Workshop takes Google Earth to the next level – highlighting how data from a variety of sources (GIS and CAD) can be integrated with comprehensive base imagery for very little cost.

A special Mashups Workshop contrasts different products available including Google Earth, Google Maps, Microsoft's Virtual Earth (Live Search Maps) and NASA's World Wind to see how they work and what they offer. The workshop will finish by showing participants how easy it is to create their own Google Maps web page.

Courses are available in all major capital cities around Australia with discounts available for SSI members. Online registration and more detailed information is available at the link below.
