Google Earth Outreach and EIS-Africa are searching for a few qualified individuals to become Google Earth and Maps Trainers! If you are accepted to be a Trainer, you will participate in a Google Earth and Maps Trainer Workshop at the AfricaGIS 2009 conference in Kampala, Uganda.
This 1-day intensive training workshop will take place on Sunday, 25 October, 2009. All
participants will then be encouraged to spend a few hours the following week - during the AfricaGIS conference – further strengthening knowledge and skills by assisting during training workshops led by the Google Earth Outreach staff.
Participants will also become part of a growing network of individuals who are technical resources for public benefit organizations and projects in the future.
The long-term goal is for participants to serve as active focal points in Africa for encouraging and enabling the optimal use of Google Earth and Maps as tools for communication, collaboration, sustainable development and public outreach.
To participate, you must meet the following minimum criteria:
- Basic familiarity with Google Earth and Maps
- Experience in GIS, web, or databases
- Ability to speak and work in English
- Travel, accommodation, and AfricaGIS registration fees paid from other source (we regret that we cannot provide travel support for this workshop)

Your answers to these questions will allow us to select participants and tailor the training to meet your needs.
We will inform if you have been accepted by 5 October. Participants will be given a Certificate of Participation and will join a growing global network of professionals in Africa using Google Earth and Maps to address issues of sustainable development.
