Global Vector Basemaps and Raster Mosaic of SA

The response to our recent unveiling of EVC's own brand of digital geospatial datasets has been strong and we are pleased to highlight additional datasets from our product line.

The new series of EVC products range from VMAP1-compliant datasets to raster mosaics to digital elevation models, and are only available through East View Cartographic. The new EVCmap and EVCdem product lines are uncommon in their extensive global coverage, up-to-date data, and affordability.

Global Vector Basemaps - Edition 2

EVC has created a worldwide small-scale vector basemaps at 1:10 Million and 1:5 Million, and a smaller coverage for 1:1 Million. Each product is an ideal base layer to serve as the global foundation for your GIS projects. Each of the products is designed as a ready-to-use dataset; simply load it and go! The database is comprised of all the layers expected in a comprehensive basemap, such as boundaries (international, administrative), roads, railways, airports, lakes and rivers, cities, and physiographic features (deserts, valleys, etc.). The features in the basemaps have been extracted from multiple sources, including topographic maps at appropriate scales, public-domain datasets such as boundaries and gazetteers, and ancillary reference sources. South Africa Raster Mosaic - Edition 2

EVC offers 1:50,000 scale topographic maps produced by the Republic of South Africa's Chief Directorate, Surveys and Mapping (CDSM). In addition to offering these for purchase on a per-sheet basis, EVC offers this series of topographic maps of South Africa as highly-compressed raster mosaics. The maps are converted from cropped GeoTiff files into groupings which results in each tile covering a much larger area. This procedure offers the same highly valuable maps in a GIS-ready, efficient, and cost-effective manner. Instead of purchasing more than 1,900 individual files (maps) for complete coverage of South Africa, EVC can offer the same content for 11 tiles - with each tile covering 5x5 degrees.
