Geospatial Excellence Awards

GIS Development presented Geospatial Excellence Awards to twenty-eight organisations from different parts of the world for innovative and effective applications of geospatial technologies.

New Delhi, India March 6, 2009 – GIS Development, the Geospatial media company felicitated twenty eight organisations from across the globe with the GIS Development Geospatial Excellence Awards at the Gala Dinner function of Map World Forum held on February 12, 2009 at Hyderabad, India. The
ceremony was attended by more than 800 delegates.

The GIS Development Geospatial Excellence Awards are India's premier private awards that
commemorate excellence in the field of geospatial technology applications. The objective of giving awards was to recognize, honour and spot light the best applications or uses of geospatial technologies whose performance is worthy of emulation. The nominations for the awards were sought from all
government, industry and partner organisatons of Map World Forum. The winners were selected
through an elaborate multilevel assessment process.

Professor V S Ramamurthy, Chairman and Board of Directors, IIT Delhi and DAE Homi Bhabha Chair Professor at Inter-University Accelerator Cent re presented the awards to all the awardees. On the occasion, Prof. Ramamurthy said, “Geospatial Excellence Awards is a good initiative to encourage usage of geospatial technologies across various verticals. I do hope that with such encouragement more private and public sector companies begin to apply geospatial technologies to their work in future.”

Sanj ay Kumar, Chief Executive Officer, GISDevelopment said, “GISDevelopment, as a propagator and promoter of geospatial technologies is very pleased to see the spread of geospatial technologies to such an extent and we feel that such great efforts need to be acknowledged. I on behalf of the GIS Development team would like to congratulate and thank all the winners who very enthusiastically participated for the Excellence Award.”
