Attendees of the GSDI11 Conference in Rotterdam (15 - 19 June) have the opportunity to share a little and make a big positive impact!
The GSDI Sponsored Projects Committee will organize a Silent Auction in Rotterdam in order to raise money for the GSDI Developing Nation Fund. This fund is used to support human capacity building in developing nations such as by covering travel expenses of representatives of national organizations from developing countries to attend important SDI-related conferences and workshops.
Please bring an item identifiable with your nation or region of the world to donate to the auction. Items might include books, maps, rugs, handicrafts, jewelry, carvings, baskets, hats, pottery, pillows, artwork, musical instruments, software, hardware, training, a vacation house for a period of time, etc.
Donated items will be exhibited during the conference. Attendees may bid on items throughout the week. The highest written bid for each item (as of Thursday at the end of the afternoon coffee break) wins the bid and the right to take the item home – upon payment in US dollars or Euros. A few selected items will be withheld and sold through a live auction at the Geo Gala dinner on Thursday Evening.
We have nearly 700 registrants to date for the conference coming from all across the globe so we look forward to a highly successful auction in support of the SDI community in developing nations!
