GITA’s 2009 GIS for Oil & Gas Event Show update

Aurora, Colo., Oct. 20, 2009 — The Geospatial Information & Technology Association (GITA) announced the registration totals from the 18th Annual GIS for Oil & Gas Conference and Exhibition, which was held at the Marriott Westchase Hotel in Houston, Texas, Sept. 13-17.

The conference attracted a total of 674 people, which is higher than 2006 attendee numbers and falls just short of record-breaking 2007 attendance numbers (the event was canceled in 2008 because of Hurricane Ike).

There were 26 technical sessions, which covered topics including everything from the basics of GIS in the oil and gas arena to gathering systems and one-call. The conference also featured five half-day seminars.

Recorded Sessions

GITA is offering 15 recorded sessions from its 2009 GIS for Oil & Gas Conference. Whether you couldn’t attend the conference or attended but couldn’t see all the sessions you wanted to, GITA is now offering access to presentation files that feature simultaneous recorded audio and PowerPoint presentation files. Visit the link below for full details and to order the sessions.

2009 Speaker Award Winner

Michael Harris of Anadarko Petroleum Corporation has received the 2009 GIS for Oil & Gas Conference Speaker Award. The Speaker award recognizes the top session presenter out of the event’s 26 technical sessions. Each speaker was rated by session participants in the areas of quality of presentation, content of session, visual aids, and relevance of topic, and Harris scored highest overall.
