GGP Systems Launches Spatial Data Storage GIS

GGP Systems will be launching the latest version of its geographical information system (GIS) at the forthcoming Association of Geographic Information (AGI) GeoCommunity ‘09. GGP GIS 2009 includes advanced spatial data storage functionality, improved data security and user authentication and support for Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008. GGP GIS 2009 will be on show at the AGI GeoCommunity ’09 event the biggest independent GI conference in UK, which takes place from the 23rd to 24th September at the Holiday Inn, Stratford–upon–Avon, UK.

“In order to maximise the potential of geographic information as a corporate resource, it is essential that large volumes of data can be securely stored and accessed by authorised users,” commented Tim Maxwell founder and Managing Director of GGP Systems. “The integration of multiple spatial databases within GGP GIS 2009 will provide the foundation for deploying enterprise wide spatial information and facilitate either web based or wireless location based applications.”

GGP GIS 2009 includes the ability to store complex GIS layers to the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) international standards. Being able to directly read from and write to a spatial database means information can be effectively shared between departments or even organisations eliminating data silos, reducing data duplicity and improving system interoperability. The use of standard storage formats in GGP GIS 2009 will also enable joining up of diverse datasets to provide a richer information resource.

GGP GIS 2009 also includes more secure password storage, a simpler user authentication pass through and account generation wizard for improved data / user management and security, full OGC compliant storage of Ordnance Survey MasterMap data in SQL Server 2008, additional support for image file formats and improved stability in a Citrix environment.

GGP GIS 2009 is part of a suite of software solutions from GGP Systems that includes an upgraded version of GGP’s browser based GIS eGGP and GGP’s land, property and street gazetteer management software GGP NGz. eGGP 2009 also includes the ability to access and display data held across a variety of spatial databases, improved user security and authentication for remote access and new map query functions. GGP NGz 2009 includes new functionality for Street Naming and Numbering (SNN) and Candidate Processing.
