GEODIS Purchases Fourth Vexcel Imaging Camera

Graz, Austria — May 13, 2010 — Vexcel Imaging GmbH, a Microsoft® company, completed the sale of an UltraCamXp large format digital camera system to GEODIS BRNO spol. s r. o. in the Czech Republic. GEODIS GROUP has acquired four Vexcel Imaging cameras since 2006 — two UltraCamX and two UltraCamXp systems.

“We are very satisfied with the three Vexcel Imaging cameras that are currently in use within GEODIS GROUP. Purchasing another UltraCamXp is a logical solution to address our urgent need for increased capacity in the field of aerial photography for this season,” said Patrik Meixner, Production Manager in the Division of Geoinformatics at GEODIS. "Our fourth camera provides us with much better flexibility to meet our clients’ needs and the superb resolution gives us another competitive advantage.”

The UltraCamXp was released in 2008 with an enlarged footprint and enhanced storage capabilities compared to its predecessors, the UltraCamD and UltraCamX. The UltraCamXp reduces the number of flight lines, assisting in saving time and lowering costs, while retaining high radiometric performance.

“Vexcel Imaging is pleased to have GEODIS as a satisfied repeat customer,” said Alexander Wiechert, Business Director of Microsoft and Managing Director for Vexcel Imaging GmbH. “By providing extensive storage capabilities and a large footprint, the UltraCamXp will help GEODIS meet the increasing demand for digital aerial imagery from its customers throughout Europe and the Middle East.”

About the UltraCamXp
The UltraCamXp large-format digital aerial camera provides a large imagefootprint collection capacity of 196 megapixels and a pixel size of 6 micrometers. The resolution ratio of 1:3 between pan and color bands allows for the production of high-resolution pan-sharpened products. The UltraCamXp makes use of the same data flow concept introduced with the UltraCamX and provides even more in-flight storage capacity. The low-cost, exchangeable on-board storage devices hold up to 6,600 images each—approximately 4.2 TB of data. The vast storage capability allows for more efficient data collection as a result of uninterrupted image collection and minimal ground time.
