Munich, Germany, 20.10.2009 – In order to cater for the trend towards ever more complex services, GAF AG established a new ‘Integrated Services’ business unit on 1st October 2009. GAF thereby builds on its existing core expertise in the fields of geo-information and software development with the addition of a product and service portfolio focusing on satellite communication and navigation applications. This will allow the company to realise projects in the future based on an even broader technological basis.
The aim of the ‘GAF Integrated Services’ is the provision of innovative and comprehensive services from one source in order to satisfy increasingly demanding customer requirements in an optimal way. The provision of such integrated services and solutions in the field of satellite communication and navigation, combined with powerful geo-information components, will become an important future business area for GAF.
Dr. Matthias Baron, who has been appointed head of the new business unit, considers the technical challenges faced by his team of experts to be very manageable. “The integration of these various technologies is a great challenge which we feel we are more than capable of handling. GAF has many years of experience with the implementation of thematic consulting solutions, in our home market as well as in tough conditions as part of development projects in Asia, Africa and South America; we will now supplement this solid basis with well-qualified staff in the new areas of technology.” Dr. Peter Volk, Managing Director of GAF, adds: “As a service provider with the highest quality standards, we will now be able to offer these integrated services with a project team that is based entirely within the company, which gives us a clear competitive advantage.”
