GAF AG at Intergeo - Best of 25 years

GAF AG at Intergeo - Best of 25 years

Munich, Sept. 1st 2010 - GAF and Partners at Intergeo 2010 in Cologne, Hall 11/2, Stand J 118

The Munich-based company GAF AG (GAF) has now been active and successful in the geoinformation market for 25 years. This anniversary will therefore be a leading feature of this year’s appearance at Intergeo. GAF will occupy a pavilion, on stand J 118 in hall 11/2, together with a number of its main partners: E-GEOS, Euromap, European Space Imaging, Intermap and Spot Image. The GIS Round Table (RTG) will also again be present on the GAF stand. The exhibiting companies will combine to present a wide range of future-oriented geodata, products and services for diverse fields of application.

The ability to take a bird’s eye view of the Earth is now an indispensable tool for environmental and regional planning tasks, as well as in numerous other disciplines. GAF has been carrying out pioneering work in this field for 25 years. In the process the company, together with its subsidiary Euromap, has become the largest provider of a number of commercial satellite imagery and geodata sets in Germany. In addition to the provision of data, GAF also offers a combination of GIS technology and in-house software development that is unique well beyond the borders of Germany. The company’s portfolio is also strengthened by the domestic and international provision of customer-oriented consultancy services.

GAF was founded by Dr. Rupert Haydn together with Agrar- und Hydrotechnik (AHT) and the Wittelsbacher Equalisation Fund (WAF). 1985 was the first time that services in the field of Earth observation using satellite imagery had been made commercially available for businesses as well as for public clients. GAF continued to develop the business field of Earth observation as a core area of skill and expertise in the company by integrating other geoinformation technologies on a regular basis. Today, GAF and its 160 highly qualified members of staff offer a unique, multi-disciplinary portfolio of spatial information products and services for all future-oriented areas of application throughout the world. Examples include verification of applications made by farmers for EU agricultural subsidies, the provision of GMES land and atmospheric services, the feedstock industry, the forestry and environmental sectors (in particular REDD) and also a wide range of applications in the security sector.

In its 25th anniversary year, GAF will again appear at Intergeo 2010 on a pavilion with its main partners: E-GEOS will be presenting its range of high resolution optical and radar data, as well as special monitoring services, and Euromap will be presenting the complete spectrum of Indian IRS data products together with an innovative digital elevation model (Euromaps 3D). As a long-standing partner of GAF, European Space Imaging (EUSI) will be demonstrating its services based on the Global Alliance high resolution World View products. And Intermap will complement the unique offering on show at the pavilion with its NEXTMap® range of products. Furthermore, Spot Image will be showcasing its capacity as one of the largest European providers of high resolution data. The demonstrations and displays will be rounded off by the presence of the GIS Round Table (RTG) with its INSPIRE-compatible information platform catering for a diverse range of geo-services.
