Vancouver, BC, May 26, 2008 - Safe Software will share innovative examples of how GeoMedia users have used FME to successfully implement spatial data infrastructure (SDI) and other data distribution initiatives at Intergraph 2008.
Dale Lutz, Vice-President of Development at Safe Software will walk attendees through several recent customer projects, including the development of the National Geographic Institute (NGI) of Belgium's SDI. By bringing data into their GeoMedia environment, they were able to share up-to-date geographic information with other government agencies involved in the European INSPIRE initiative. Lutz will also demonstrate how customers are using FME to bring data from multiple formats, including MicroStation, ESRI SDE and AutoCAD, into the GeoMedia environment and share it with others both inside and outside their organization.
"For more than seven years now at Safe, we've had the opportunity to work closely with Intergraph users to understand their unique needs," says Dale Lutz. "We’re pleased to continue supporting their distribution efforts in today's world of growing data sharing initiatives."
Safe Software offers a complete, customized spatial ETL solution for Intergraph users who need to access spatial data in a variety of formats, translate and transform it into a Geo-Media or G/Technology friendly data model and format, and then share out the resulting dataset(s) with users inside and outside their organization. The FME Intergraph Edition offers support for the common formats Intergraph users work with, such as Autodesk AutoCAD, ESRI ArcSDE, Oracle Spatial or GeoRaster, Microsoft SQL Server or Access, and others.
Safe Software's presentation will be shared at the Intergraph 2008 Conference held in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, June 2-5, 2008. For more information, please drop by the Safe Software booth #805 or visit www.safe.com/intergraph.

Each month we select a hot topic and a leading figure in the industry to write about it.What message are we sending to senior level decision makers about the importance and value of Spatial Data Infrastructure - SDI - if we keep misrepresenting what SDI is or is all about?
In previous editorials in this magazine I have touched on various SDI issues, especially now that the pan-European SDI has achieved a legally mandated status within the European Union's 27 Member States. Yet I fear that the Geographic Information community - or communities, for there are many - continue to… More…
