Here is your personal invitation to the FIG Working Week 2009 in Eilat, Israel, 3-8 May 2009
Register now – early bird registration has been extended to 12 March 2009
We welcome you to the FIG Working Week 2009, which will take place 3-8 May 2009 in Eilat, a resort city at the southernmost edge of Israel, on the shores of the Red Sea. All meetings will be held at the 5*deluxe Dan Eilat Hotel. We expect to host more than 600 participants from all over the world.
The professional theme of the Working Week is “Surveyors Key Role in Accelerated Development”, which addresses many of the issues facing surveyors in the next years. As always, the Working Week will gather international professionals and academia members from the fields of land surveying, land and real-estate appraisal, GIS, spatial planning, environmental awareness, and civil engineering. In the technical programme we have more than 250 presentations in about 60 technical sessions, seminars and workshops. A special seminar on the history of surveying and measurement will be held on Sunday 3 May 2009. Technical programme is available at the link below.
The conference web site and registration sites are listed below.
Please notice that the early bird registration has been extended to 12 March 2009, so you can still take advantage of the early bird registration fee. When you make your registration, please book your hotel at the same. We recommend booking at the Dan Eilat Hotel, which is the conference hotel and offers excellent value for money. Please notice that Dan Eilat has announced new lower room rates. These lower rates will apply to all hotel reservations. We also advice you to check the flight information on the web for flights between Tel Aviv and Eilat.
In the conference programme we offer technical tours to the Israel - Egypt and Israel - Jordan boundaries; to the research tunnel at Mount Amram; to the copper mines of Timna; and to the City of Eilat. They will all be most interesting, not only from professional, but also from tourist point of view.
The tours offered before, during and after the conference, will permit the participants to taste the tourist attractions of Israel, many of them important to Christians, Moslems and Jews, from the Northern areas of the country of Accre and Nazareth, the Sea of Galilee and Beit Shaan, through the centre of the three religions in Jerusalem, through the Judean Desert, the Dead Sea, the breathtaking Metzada down to Eilat and to Petra, in Jordan. The organisers will do everything possible to make the FIG Working Week in Eilat a memorable and unforgettable experience to every participant.
The Licensed Surveyors Association in Israel – ALSI, our host association in Israel, has decided to offer three complimentary tickets for the excursion to Petra (on Saturday, 9 May 2008) and three complimentary tickets to the FIG Foundation Dinner (on Thursday 7 May 2009). The lucky winners will be found by drawing lots between those participants who have registered during the early bird registration period. So there is one more reason to register before 12 March 2009.
Any inquiries on registration and requests for invitation letters as well as on pre- and post conference tours, please contact the conference office: FIG WW 2009, ORTRA, 1 Nirim St., P O BOX 9352 , Tel Aviv 61092, Israel, Tel: 972-3-6384444, Fax: 972-3-6384455, E-mail: fig@ortra.com.
