EuroGeographics and PSMA Australia Limited signed a landmark agreement in Vilnius, Lithuania which will enable the sharing of market intelligence, geospatial knowledge and governance protocols creating broad linkages across continents that have not previously been achieved.
Co-operation between EuroGeographics and PSMA Australia will enhance development of techniques and processes that are unique to multi-government continental datasets, core business activities for both organisations. The considerable challenges of building these complex datasets requires the continuous management of key government relationships and the deft manipulation of a myriad of disparate datasets on a scale that is seldom seen. Both organisations are justifiably proud of the success they have individually achieved in this unique area of geospatial management and believe that collectively the prospects are substantial.
Magnús Guðmundsson President of EuroGeographics, expressed his satisfaction at the formalisation of the relationship between EuroGeographics and PSMA Australia, and the opportunities it will create. He commented that “the signing of this agreement is a significant achievement for EuroGeographics, its 52 member organisations and the European geo-Spatial Community. EuroGeographics has already achieved good cooperation between geo-spatial organisations in 43 countries in Europe and the products which harmonise their national definitive data into pan-European products are widely used by governments and businesses around the world. I believe this international co-operation with PSMA Australia, which has its own record of considerable success, provides both organisations, and the communities they serve, with the opportunity to learn much from each other and to deliver significantly more benefits to their stakeholders. We are proud of what this relationship with PSMA Australia represents and look forward to working closely with our Australian partner.”
Dave Lovell, EuroGeographics Executive Director first became acquainted with Dan Paull, Chief Executive Officer of PSMA Australia, when he was speaking at a 1Spatial conference in 2007. The opportunity to further the relationship occurred when he invited Dan Paull to present at the GSDI (Global Spatial Data Infrastructure) and INSPIRE (Infrastructure for Spatial Information in Europe) Conference held in Rotterdam in June 2009.
