ERDAS's Amy Zeller, Visualization Product Manager, presented an excellent one-hour webinar on ERDAS TITAN on 25 September.
For those who missed the webinar, it can be watched online or downloaded from the link below.
The ERDAS TITAN Network is a dynamic online solution for sharing geospatial data, web services and location-based content in a single, secure environment. The Network allows users to discover, visualize, access and retrieve data into a variety of desktop, Internet and 3D virtual globe applications. This 3D environment supports users and organizations that want to make their geospatial data available for while retaining digital ownership rights, using different levels of permissions to view.
ERDAS TITAN goes well beyond the capabilities of static 2D websites to offer powerful features for connecting and communicating to a network of worldwide geospatial users, and discovering, visualizing and ultimately consuming geospatial data and web services.
Users create a 'MyWorld' — a geographically enabled personal space — where they can upload their data, set permissions as to how that data is used by others, and share content with other network users.
The Geospatial Instant Messenger application supports sharing and real-time communication among ERDAS TITAN Network participants, including government and commercial data providers, GIS data clearinghouses, city/county and state/federal agencies, and other members.
ERDAS TITAN GeoHub enables an organization to create a secure community within the ERDAS TITAN Network and allows for permission-based data sharing at individual and group levels. Users subscribe to a GeoHub, and a GeoHub Admin establishes data sharing permissions for each subscriber.
Participants can access data published to the ERDAS TITAN Network from any OGC WMS compliant application or into various client applications including 3D virtual globes, such as Google Earth. Users can search for data and select which data they would like to visualize and retrieve.
The ability to drag-and-drop information resources of different types, from different registered users, into the TITAN viewer is truly amazing.
ERDAS TITAN should certainly find a market for incident or disaster management and monitoring, especially for responders who need simple, yet powerful, visualizations of what is happening in the field, based on shared information resources from numerous data owners.
View the webinar and you will begin to see the possibilities.
