Norcross (Georgia, USA) – ERDAS announces the release of LPS 9.3. Formerly known as Leica Photogrammetry Suite, LPS efficiently transforms raw imagery into accurate, reliable geospatial data. With LPS Core and its add-on modules, any photogrammetry workflow can be completed, uniquely combining ease of use and high accuracy.
A new component of the LPS 9.3 product suite, PRO600 Fundamentals for PowerMap makes production-oriented feature extraction accessible to a broad range of users. Seamlessly integrated with Bentley PowerMap XM, PRO600 Fundamentals increases the productivity of the 3D feature extraction process. With a high performance stereo viewing engine and sophisticated data collection and editing tools, PRO600 Fundamentals offers unparalleled productivity and interoperability with a wide array of GIS and photogrammetric systems and formats.
With LPS 9.3, the LPS Terrain Editor module offers a new Control Point Review Tool, enabling users to check the quality of a DTM with respect to ground control points, check points and tie points. Offering multiple point filtering and rendering options, the Control Point Review Tool also allows visual inspection of triangulation results.
“Production mapping professionals are demanding experts who inherently understand what accuracy and reliability mean. With an increasing number of sensors delivering vast amounts of raw imagery every day, they need to rely on powerful tools that boost their productivity,” said Mladen Stojic, Senior Vice President, Product Management & Marketing, ERDAS. “With LPS 9.3, our goal is to provide a comprehensive set of tools to produce high quality data products in a shorter timeframe.”
LPS 9.3 presents numerous usability and productivity enhancements. Automatic batch script generation is now available in the ERDAS MosaicPro module, helping streamline large mosaicking projects. In LPS Automatic Terrain Extraction, users can now define a tolerance range for the vertical units when generating a digital elevation model, resulting in a better match between the model and the imagery.
In addition, LPS Core now provides the KML export capability, allowing visualization of geospatial data in various two- or three-dimensional Earth browsers, including ERDAS TITAN. Bridging the data authoring functionality to ERDAS TITAN’s connectivity capabilities, LPS 9.3 is an essential Geospatial Business System, transforming earth data into useful business information.
LPS 9.3 is expected to begin shipping in late November 2008.
