ERDAS Announces ERDAS Image Web Server 2009

Norcross, GA – ERDAS announces ERDAS Image Web Server 2009, the new release of the high-speed, specialized server application. ERDAS Image Web Server is the fastest image server on the planet, implementing true interoperability and simplifying the process of delivering and consuming data.

ERDAS Image Web Server solves the infrastructure congestion problems associated with deploying large amounts of image data, empowering users to quickly access the information they need. ERDAS Image Web Server distributes large volumes of geospatial image data to thousands of concurrent users. Already supporting ECWP and JPEG 2000, ERDAS Image Web Server now supports additional file formats (including GeoTIFF, MrSID and IMG), as well as JPIP and WMS-C. With GeoTIFF support, ERDAS Image Web Server simplifies deployment, eliminating the need to reprocess old data. In addition, ERDAS Image Web Server increases user flexibility with automatic client-side reprojection, enabling web applications to work together regardless of datum or projection.

ERDAS Image Web Server is also now available for Linux, a free Unix-based operating system. Recently, ERDAS also announced support for Sun Solaris. Sun Solaris delivers a high level of performance, stability and security. Sun Solaris spans the entire enterprise: the Web tier, the data warehouse and the most demanding technical software applications. In addition, the Microsoft Windows version of ERDAS Image Web Server now provides true 64-bit support.

“ERDAS Image Web Server 2009 quickly serves imagery, complimenting and integrating with an organization’s existing GIS and business systems,” said Mladen Stojic, Senior Vice President, Product Management and Marketing, ERDAS. “Supporting additional operating systems and file formats, ERDAS Image Web Server is highly versatile to incorporate into any geospatial environment.”
