EBM Tools Awareness Webinar with Coral Reef Focus

EBM Tools Awareness Webinar (Coral Reef Focus) by Dan Dorfman, EBM Tools Network Training Coordinator
September 16, 2 pm EST

The Ecosystem-Based Management (EBM) Tools Network is pleased to announce that it will host another EBM Tools Awareness Webinar by Dan Dorfman, the EBM Tools Network Training Coordinator, on Tuesday, September 16, at 2 pm EDT (US & Canada). This webinar will focus on tools applicable to coral reef ecosystems. Please note that this webinar will involve the use of both an online desktop sharing system for video AND a conventional telephone conference call for audio. The video and audio portions will be enabled 30 minutes prior to the start of the webinar to allow users to test their systems. Information on registering for the webinar is below. The webinar is open to the public so please distribute to any potentially interested parties.

A variety of software tools have been developed to help policymakers and managers implement EBM processes such as collecting, visualizing, and analyzing information about ecosystems and human communities and engaging stakeholders in EBM decision making processes. This webinar provided an overview of a number of tools that can be used to facilitate EBM processes in coral reef ecosystems and will point managers in the direction of additional resources to find out more about tools.

This Month's Burning Issue...
Each month we select a hot topic and a leading figure in the industry to write about it.
This month's burning issue:

What message are we sending to senior level decision makers about the importance and value of Spatial Data Infrastructure - SDI - if we keep misrepresenting what SDI is or is all about?

In previous editorials in this magazine I have touched on various SDI issues, especially now that the pan-European SDI has achieved a legally mandated status within the European Union's 27 Member States. Yet I fear that the Geographic Information community - or communities, for there are many - continue to… More…
