Representatives of House & Land have criticized the Google group for its intention, to photograph all the streets of Dresden for the project "Street View". We believe the actions of the company are cause for "extreme concern", writes Regional Association Chef Christian Rietschel in a letter to Saxony's data protection officer Andreas Schurig.
In 1998, the association protested against a similar project of a Lower Saxony company. Their employees were driving by transport vans across the Republic and using special scanning cameras to snap photos of properties. The aim was to distribute the image data obtained on CD-ROM. The renewed attempt by Google "discourages us considerably, "said Rietschel.
A Google spokesman has confirmed that virtual city tours of Dresden and other German cities should be possible during 2009.

Adopting Cloud computing can save money, but good governance is essential to manage the risk argues Mike Small
