Directory Search and reverse GeoCoder available

The first European-wide location-based Directory Search" (yellow pages / POI-search) and (reverse) GeoCoder based on open standards (Open Location Services by OGC) and open geodata from OpenStreetMap are available at www.OpenRouteService.org (ORS)

ORS Routing has been extended to Spain and France, now covering ten European countries.

The ORS OpenLS Directory Service is now available for the whole of Europe. This means that you can search for Points of Interests (POIs) of different types from a user-specified location within a selected distance. Currently more than 50 different categories of objects are available based on relevant tags of OpenStreetMap.

The ORS OpenLS Utility Service (Geocoder / Reverse Geocoder) is now available for the whole of Europe (beta-version). This means it is possible to get the coordinates for a given address (city & streetname) or vice versa to return addresses for a given set of coordinates.

The ORS OpenLS Route Service (pedestrian, bicycle, car) and our Accessibility Analysis Service is now available also for France and Spain (in addition to the 8 European countries from Italy to Danmark or UK already supported). Support for further countries is under development.

The ORS Web Map Service is now available for the whole of Europe (also TileCache).

Quality of results depends on availability of OpenStreetMap data. The data is updated once a week in order to keep up2date with the growth of the OSM database.
