DEFINIENS LAUNCHES eCOGNITION COMMUNITY

Munich, Germany / Morristown, New Jersey – July 2, 2009 – Definiens, the number one Enterprise Image Intelligence® company, has established an online community for Earth Sciences professionals. The eCognition Community is part of the company’s new geospatial website and provides an integrated environment for collaboration and knowledge transfer, along with social networking facilities.

Registration to the eCognition Community website is open to all geospatial professionals and academics. The website enables its members to collaborate and share knowledge in blogs, discussion boards, ruleware exchange, video and audio file sharing facilities, a knowledge wiki, and private conversation space. Additionally, a desktop application is freely available for download, allowing users to participate in the community and search for relevant content from the website while simultaneously working in Definiens Developer.

Definiens provides a suite of comprehensive software products for geospatial analysis, remote sensing, infrastructure planning, earth observation and natural resource management tasks to customers worldwide. The eCognition Community website allows users to share experiential information and collaborate on ruleware development for Definiens software. Dedicated space will be built for beta-testing of new software products, as well as for Definiens’ Academic Centers of Excellence and other affiliated groups.

Community members are able to post blogs and develop discussion boards about industry trends, with capabilities for the syndication of content from external websites. Definiens product managers and consultants will provide active blogging on different topics and provide technical assistance on Definiens products via the discussion boards.

“Definiens software has long been recognized as the industry standard. With the launch of the eCognition Community, we aim to set a new standard for online collaboration across the global Earth Sciences community,” said Ralph D. Humberg, Vice President, Earth Sciences at Definiens. “We are committed to providing resources to existing and potential customers. Our experiences with the eCognition Community will also help us to further improve our products as we plan to incorporate functionality for online participation into future software solutions.
