San Diego, CA., – CompassData Inc. announces the online availability of its CompassData Ground Control Point Archive including over 13,700 photo-identifiable ground control points (GCP) around the globe. The GCP Archive online store at the link below contains 10,000 North American and 3,700 international GCPs that have been collected either by CompassData’s in-house team of professional “Control Freaks” or its 30 certified mapping partners in Europe, Asia, South America and Africa. CompassData was the first to offer GCPs as an on-line product in 2005. The Archive is the largest commercially available source of GCP data with guaranteed quality and consistency to five precision levels.
CompassData made the announcement today at the American Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) Conference in San Diego, California. “By offering the Archive online for immediate purchase and delivery, we are providing our customers with an easy mechanism to browse, select and purchase the GCPs needed to enhance imagery and provide data for QA/QC of geospatial data sets,” said Brant Howard, CEO of CompassData. “The ability to access control data, without having to mobilize staff to the field, can save our customers time and money to deliver geospatial projects and products.” Powered by the DataDoors™
e-commerce solution, provided by i-cubed in Fort Collins, Colorado, CompassData Online has an easy to navigate interface for geospatial data that supports credit card, purchase order and government contract vehicles to get the data in the hands of the geospatial professional.
CompassData not only offers GCP data to the geospatial community, but is also widely recognized as an industry leader for their ability to deploy data collection teams with very short notice to acquire GIS data worldwide. GCP collection ranges from centimeter to sub-meter levels of precision as required by the geospatial community. GIS data collection includes but is not limited to street signs, road centerlines, gas/electric/underground utility infrastructure and other GIS feature data.

Adopting Cloud computing can save money, but good governance is essential to manage the risk argues Mike Small
