Clark Labs is pleased to announce that one of its resellers, Geocarto International Centre in Hong Kong, has recently published Remote Sensing with IDRISI Taiga: A Beginner's Guide, by Timothy Warner and David J. Campagna.
The text is ideal for students and professionals seeking a hands-on, guided exploration of the fundamental issues in remote sensing and image processing, using the techniques and approaches within the IDRISI Taiga software.
The text introduces the reader to the display and basic processing procedures for enhancement, analysis and classification of satellite imagery, and trains the user in how to accomplish these tasks within the IDRISI environment. The text comes with sample data from a number of locations around the globe, covering a variety of natural and human-modified environments.
"This text is an excellent resource for those learning remote sensing. It complements the IDRISI tutorials and manual while providing in-depth instruction on the fundamental topics and techniques. The authors are experts in the field and longtime IDRISI users," commented Dr. James Toledano, Executive Director of Clark Labs.
Each of the nine chapters in the nearly 300-page manual includes step-by-step instructions for the image processing techniques available within IDRISI. An overview and methodology discussion is also provided for each of the topic areas.
"This publication was first envisioned six years ago, following an on-site training by Dr. Toledano at our centre in December 2001," stated Mr. K.N. Au of Geocarto. "We are grateful that Dr. Timothy Warner and Dr. David J. Campagna, both well-versed in the use of IDRISI, so kindly agreed to write this important book."
Remote Sensing with IDRISI Taiga: A Beginner's Guide is currently available from Geocarto for $60. Clark Labs will also be distributing the text within the next month.
