CenterPoint Energy New ArcFM Graphic Design

Telvent (NASDAQ: TLVT), the IT company for a sustainable and secure world, announced today that CenterPoint Energy, Inc. (CenterPoint) is an early adopter of Designer Express, a new graphic design extension of ArcFM™ Enterprise GIS Solution. CenterPoint will be one of the first users of Designer Express, expected to be released commercially in the near future.

CenterPoint, headquartered in Houston, Texas, implemented ArcFM GIS (Geographic Information System), developed by Telvent on the ESRI ArcGIS® platform, to consolidate and standardize on a single GIS across its multiple electricity and natural gas units.

CenterPoint now is adding the Designer Express application to integrate design capabilities with the configurable architecture of the ArcFM Solution. This project began in July, 2008, with production expected at its first business unit by year-end and subsequent deployment in early 2009. Designer Express provides 'lightweight' sketching abilities using a simplified data model and simpler design tab functionality - compared to the full-featured Designer product. Its streamlined user interface is tailored for fast and accurate sketch creation and cost estimate generation.

“We are pleased to be working with Telvent to develop the requirements for their new streamlined gas design product. Implementation of Designer Express fits in with our strategy of a consistent, long-term, and value-added process for the gas engineering and operational support groups across CenterPoint Energy,” stated Cindi Salas, Manager of Geographic Information Services. Andy Bennett, CEO of Telvent Miner & Miner noted, “Designer Express fits a very important niche for some of our clients. Many utilities like CenterPoint need the ability to quickly create sketches in the office and in the field with a slightly smaller compatible-unit library. By relaxing some of these business and financial rules, the designer can focus on completing the sketch. We are very excited to have CenterPoint as one of our earliest adopters of this technology; the company's progressive use of enterprise GIS makes it a perfect fit for helping to guide our on-going R&D efforts.”
