Goteborg, February 11, 2008 - Carmenta AB, supplier of innovative geospatial technology, today launched Carmenta Mobile at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
Carmenta Mobile is a high performance map engine for mobile phones. It is one of the first, if not the first, mobile phone platform able to handle the new kind of 3D map data that is starting to emerge from map data suppliers, such as NavTeq.
Carmenta Mobile is a total solution for companies developing advanced location-based applications which use maps, routing and address or point of interest searches. Examples of such applications are in-car and pedestrian navigation, fleet and asset management, and location-based games.
Carmenta Mobile is easy to embed into any mobile application and provides a rich set of features, including:
- 2D and 3D maps capable of displaying 3D buildings and landmarks.
- Maps stored on the device which can be combined with maps loaded on-demand from a server to form a so-called hybrid system.
- Street-level maps which can be combined with other kinds of data such as satellite images or terrain information.
- Components for routing, geocoding and GPS device integration.
