Blue Marble Geographics Blue Marble Desktop 1.1

Gardiner, Maine – December 9, 2008 - Blue Marble Geographics recently released Blue Marble Desktop 1.1, which features numerous new and updated tools for flexible geospatial data management. Whether you are working with coordinate sets or vector/raster data, the Blue Marble Desktop allows you to address your data conversion challenges all within the same application interface. Blue Marble’s geospatial data manipulation and conversion solutions are used worldwide by thousands of GIS analysts at software companies, universities, oil and gas companies, civil engineering, surveying, technology, enterprise GIS groups, government and military organizations.

Some of the new features include a subtle but significant change to the viewer - the ability to change the appearance of vector layers - allows users to more easily visualize their data before and after conversion. An update to the old Map File jobs creates a simpler workflow; setting up batch transformations within the new Vector File Conversion Job now utilizes a streamlined interface similar to other batch functions in the Desktop. The ArcCatalog extension offers right-click and drag-and-drop integration for adding layers into a feature class conversion batch, which makes setting up powerful conversions an easy task. The new Point Database batch conversion feature now accommodates conversion of very large files with new tools for automatically naming and saving output files. Let the Desktop save your staff time and money by creating new efficient workflows.

“Today’s GIS Analyst need tools that are powerful and flexible at the same time, yet still reasonably priced,” stated Patrick Cunningham Blue Marble’s President. “Our Blue Marble Desktop is designed to increase the reliability of your data while enabling users to work efficiently. We further enhance this great technology through a low relative purchase price thus increasing the associated return on investment.”
