The United Kingdom Environment Agency (EA) has awarded Blom Aerofilms, Blom’s UK subsidiary, a framework agreement for a laser scanning project with a value in excess of NOK 10 million. Blom will conduct surface and flood mapping services to identify and evaluate areas at risk from flooding across England and Wales.
Blom is using LiDAR, high resolution aerial laser scanning technology, to gather 3D topographical data, collecting and analysing detailed terrain and surface information, including building heights and shapes. Used to identify drainage patterns and water flow, Blom’s LiDAR is among other a key tool to collect highly accurate height data used to predict which areas and structures are most at risk from surface water flooding in different weather conditions.
Blom is pleased to be selected by The Environment Agency to conduct flood mapping services. This shows that our environmental services business is highly sophisticated and market relevant.
