1Spatial is pleased to report that several new items have recently been added to the Data Quality Library (DQL). The DQL is a free, online, industry resource dedicated to geospatial data quality.
If you have previously registered for the DQL, re-visit and see the new material that has been added. If you have forgotten your password simply create a new account using the same email address.
One of the most recent additions is a white paper written by Dr Michael Sanderson, Steven Ramage and Seb Lessware for the INSPIRE Conference held in Slovenia earlier this year.
Spatial data consistency to facilitate and drive INSPIRE
To ensure a smooth transition to the INSPIRE implementation phase, and to allow any remedial work to be tackled in a timely manner, existing spatial data need to be assessed for consistency and fitness for purpose now and one way of addressing these issues is through the use of conformance checking. This paper looks at the industry activities around this approach, including work of the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) Data Quality Working Group and the EuroGeographics Expert Group on Data Quality.
In addition, the paper examines the emerging IT trends for web service delivery, developments that will enable the deployment of spatial data quality measurement and conformance checking services within service oriented architectures in the context of Spatial Data Infrastructures (SDIs) capacity building and INSPIRE.
To read the full paper, visit the Data Quality Library at the link below.
If you have any additional material that might be suitable for inclusion in this DQL, please let us know. Send any material or references to: marketing@1spatial.com
INSPIRE update
Following feedback from the INSPIRE Conference, working with practitioners in the market place and our current involvement in European Spatial Data Infrastructure Network (ESDIN), 1Spatial has been working on an SDI Conformance Model. One example implementation of such a model might be checking conformance with INSPIRE data specifications. Details of this will be released shortly.
