Azteca Congratulates 2007 ESRI SAG Award Winners

July 20, 2007 - Sandy UT - Azteca Systems, Inc., the leading provider of GIS-centric management solutions, congratulates the 2007 recipients of the ESRI Special Achievement in GIS (SAG) awards at the recent ESRI International User Conference in San Diego, CA. In particular, Azteca is pleased to honor these Cityworks users for this outstanding accomplishment—West Bend, WI, Clive, IA, and Waterford Township, MI.
The ESRI SAG award recognizes ESRI customers that demonstrate outstanding use of GIS within their organization. The City of West Bend, WI, was selected for spreading the use of GIS across their entire organization. The City uses Cityworks to streamline data access, update asset data, and track maintenance work on these assets.

ESRI chose the City of Clive, IA, for the award because of their citywide goal to create and maintain a centralized Geographic Information System for the city. Each of the city’s departments use this GIS, in conjunction with Cityworks, as a tool for problem solving and decision making.

Waterford Township, MI, received this award for their vision to utilize the GIS to leverage spatial data with asset modeling and document management to provide a central interface for users to perform daily operations. Waterford’s use of Cityworks has assisted in achieving this goal.

“We are excited that three of our outstanding clients were recognized by ESRI for their use of GIS,” said Brian Haslam, President of Azteca Systems. “We would like to congratulate all who received the award, but are particularly pleased that the City of West Bend, Clive, and Waterford Township have each achieved such remarkable use of GIS within their organizations. These organization’s successes in using GIS proves the endless benefits a GIS-based approach can provide and demonstrates how organizations can utilize GIS to fit their individual needs.”

This Month's Burning Issue...
Each month we select a hot topic and a leading figure in the industry to write about it.
This month's burning issue:

What message are we sending to senior level decision makers about the importance and value of Spatial Data Infrastructure - SDI - if we keep misrepresenting what SDI is or is all about?

In previous editorials in this magazine I have touched on various SDI issues, especially now that the pan-European SDI has achieved a legally mandated status within the European Union's 27 Member States. Yet I fear that the Geographic Information community - or communities, for there are many - continue to… More…
