Redlands, California — July 24, 2009 — ArcLogistics Navigator makes it easy to integrate ESRI routing solutions with in-vehicle navigation to ensure that efficiencies created in the office occur as planned in the field. The new release gives application developers and fleet managers more control over how the application is used in the field and also extends the solution to work with other geographic information system (GIS) technologies in ESRI’s product line.
Designed specifically for fleet and logistics guidance, ArcLogistics Navigator is a fully functional GPS navigation system that helps organizations see increased savings in both time and money by ensuring their drivers follow the entire path of a route built with ArcLogistics. Fleet operators can also now control the screens available to drivers and, if desired, lock out specific screens and menus and even lock the entire system on vehicle movement.
Additionally, for system integrators and developers, there is a new remote control API that allows developers to control ArcLogistics Navigator from other applications. Functionality includes operations such as open, close, or pass a list of stop locations. Through the interface customization functionality, developers can control the position and size of ArcLogistics Navigator when it opens on the device they are using.
Organizations using ArcGIS Server and ArcGIS Network Analyst for routing can now gain the full benefits of ArcLogistics Navigator.
“We have customers who have invested in ArcGIS Server and ArcGIS Network Analyst and want to extend their GIS investment, using data with their specific requirements with ArcLogistics Navigator,” says Kerry Somerville, navigation product manager at ESRI.
The datasets now available with ArcLogistics Navigator have been expanded with to include a choice between NAVTEQ and Tele Atlas, available for North America and Europe.
ArcLogistics Navigator also comes with four languages: English, Spanish, French, and German. A localization kit is available for other custom language implementations.
