Appello and Garmap join forces in North America

Gothenburg, Sweden 2010-02-18: Appello Systems is further developing the partnership with South African market leader Garmap by initiating an expansion in Latin America

WISEPILOT™, Appello’s award-winning navigation platform, was launched by Garmap under the brand Garmap for Mobile Online in 2009. Garmap has reached huge success in the South African market and is currently the mobile navigation of choice for over 20% of South Africa’s navigation capable mobile phone users with over 600,000 map requests per month.

Appello will provide the online turn–by-turn navigation application – utilising their industry leading WISEPILOT™ navigation application that has been successfully launched in over twenty countries around the world.

Garmap, with support from Appello, is now utilizing the momentum to expand geographically by partnering with three organisations and signing memorandums of understanding (MoU) to deliver mobile navigation services in Latin America.

Geo Center in Chile, Geosistemas in Argentina and ProMaps in Brazil will be making Garmap’s popular Garmap for Mobile application available in these three countries – allowing almost anyone to enjoy a full-featured mobile navigation solution on a compatible mobile phone. Latin America shares many characteristics with South Africa and lessons learnt in the South African market can be applied to the South American market.
